The Convention People’s Party, reborn at a critical juncture of our nation’s history, represents an important historical segment of the progressive forces. We are keenly aware of our responsibilities as a Party. Our choices are clear. We are opposed to elitism, and intellectual arrogance. We oppose the politics that seek to marginalize the broad masses of the people, and oppress them. We are opposed to privilege as the determinant factor in the national decision-making process.

Above all, we are opposed to imperialism, racism, tribalism, neo-colonialism and exploitation. We stand for peace and national stability. We stand for national unity and development. The CPP is a party within which there are no tribal/ethnic distinctions and believes that all citizens must be seen as Ghanaians first. The party is committed to the freedom and dignity of the African everywhere, and committed to the process of total emancipation of all Africans from the yoke of colonialism and imperialism.

The CPP is also committed to social justice and of the conviction that "you cannot have a nation that is half marginalised and half affluent". The party believes that the state must ensure that all people are given equal opportunity to develop themselves before any tribal considerations. It also holds the view that the state must be committed to solidarity with the poor.

The CPP is committed to the ideas and ideals of the late Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and hold the belief that those ideals are still relevant to the youth of today. It is in the light of this that the party wants to come back to power in order to continue the unfinished business of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

The Party colours of the CPP are Red, White and Green with its symbols being a RED COCKEREL ON A WHITE BACKGROUND and  maintains its original motto “Forward Ever Backwards Never”.
